With uncertainty gripping the Florida property market, realtors increasingly have to search for creative ways to shift their houses. And their latest venture is a bus which takes house-hunters on a tour of the bargains in their area.
The Foreclosure Express bus departs once a month on Saturdays for a four hour tour around Florida’s foreclosure properties, encouraging buyers to jump off when something catches their eye. And the scheme has been so successful that it is being rolled out in Arizona and across Spain.
Most of the properties bought on the bus are renovated for profit by developers. Last week a former £5 million property was snapped up by a Denver based firm for less than £1 million. However, an increasing number of cash strapped overseas property hunters are seeing the benefits in picking up a heavily discounted property that they can turn into their dream holiday home.
And those who are considering investing are being told that their budgets do not need to be sky high in order to make the most of a bargain property in Florida.
“People don’t have to be rich to invest in foreclosures,” tour driver Dweck tells the Sun-Sentinal, “but they must have some savings.” Interested? Read our guide to buying a property in Florida
